Alignment before Action

I am a former obsessive action taker. Over-achiever. Over-doer.

What does that mean? It means that I am really good with taking action, making things happen, and so forth. I truly cannot sleep or chill until I bring my visions to life…

That sounds great, but the results were not really showing up. I was constantly stressed, and felt like I was swimming uphill.

Something was not right. So I stepped back, and took a really long hard look at myself.

I have a history of burnout. It’s a pattern that seems to repeat itself in my life.

Feel motivated. Work like crazy. Get frustrated. Feel burnout. Quit.

What I realized was that my action was coming from a total place of lack, stress, envy, and fear.

So it was not surprising that I was simply generating more and more of that. Things were not changing despite the crazy amount of work I was doing.

The results did not reflect the effort.

It is all about energy.

If your energy is out of alignment, you will not get results.

Let me give you an example…

Maybe you want to make more money. You are focused on the lack of money in your bank account, the bills that are coming in, and so forth (been there!). You start taking action based off of those feelings.

If you feel like you don’t have enough money, you feel stressed, and you focus on lack ,then you generate exactly that. You will manifest lacking money even though you’re working like crazy. This is EXACTLY what I did for the majority of my working life, by the way.

Alignment before Action

You have to take a step back and put your attention and work into your thoughts and feelings. Your energy has to come into alignment with what you actually desire. This is an energetic universe after all (more on this in another blog post soon!).

So how do you know what energy you are giving off? Check in with your feelings.

Feelings that signify alignment: Joy, happiness, love, trust, certainty.

Feelings that signify out of alignment: Fear, worry, anxiety, frustration, jealousy, guilt.

How I Align (hint: it’s a daily practice)

First of all, read “Ask and It is Given” by Esther Hicks. This book changed my life, and I actually have some of her cards which I can just pull for daily refreshers."

1) I journal. I come back to what my desires are and what I want to create in my life. I express gratitude for it even if it hasn’t physically shown up in my life yet. Journaling is an amazing way to gain insight into our lives. I feel instantly clearer after journaling.

2) I actually check in with my feelings. If my feelings are out of alignment with my desires, I step back. I get outside in nature. I meditate. I do yoga. I take a walk. I talk it out with someone I trust. I remind myself of all of this. Sometimes we just need a reminder. And it’s okay if we are having a low energy day to take a step back.

3) Once I am in a good place, I usually feel a surge of inspired and creative energy and then I take action! You’ll feel the switch. Trust that you will get this energy when the time is right.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Do you work on your energy and alignment before taking action? If so, what do you do? And have you noticed a difference?

With love + good vibes,

Lindsay
